Based outside of Bangalore, Nrityagram is a gurukul committed to a holistic lifestyle of dance. Nrityagram aims to promote Odissi through its rigorous residential program as well as through research, lecture demonstrations and village/school outreach. Led by Artistic Director Surupa Sen,Nrityagram`s acclaimed ensemble group has toured extensively throughout India and abroad.
Pratima: Reflection
Nrityagram`s newest production,has been commissioned by the Joyce Theater`s Stephen and Cathy Weinroth Fund for New Work. The world premiere of Pratima: Reflection was in February 2008 at the prestigious Joyce Theater, New York. Vibhakta from Pratima: Reflection, was listed in "The 10 best dance performances of 2008" by Joan Acocella of the The New Yorker magazine in 2008.
